Hallelujah! I pray that the God of peace will be with you.

Seven years ago, during Chuseok, the Korean harvest holiday, there was a family in North Korea who risked their lives to escape. The family's journey was captured in the documentary Beyond Utopia.

This family of five crossed into China while avoiding the watchful eyes of North Koreaโ€™s State Security Department. We risked our own lives as well, traveling with them across China and through the jungles of Southeast Asia, doing everything we could to save them.

By the grace of God, they were rescued safely. Then, just two months after their rescue, COVID-19 began. It was an extremely difficult time.

Provinces across China were locked down, and flights and transportation worldwide came to a halt. As a result, our ministry of rescuing North Korean escapees had to stop completely.

Even during that difficult season, however, God gave us wisdom.

While we were unable to rescue North Korean escapees, Caleb Missionโ€™s North Korean evangelists, our ministry workers, and I began building what is now our center for North Korean escapees.

Even looking back now, it was incredibly difficult.

We laid the bricks ourselves, carried the cement, and built the center with our own hands, one step at a time.

At the time, it felt as though COVID would never end. But in 2023, the pandemic finally came to an end, and Caleb Mission began rescuing North Korean escapees once again.

However, as soon as we restarted the rescue ministry, we faced another major obstacle.

When we tried to resume rescues in 2023, geopolitical changes had caused the cost of rescue operations to rise to nearly ten times what it had been before.

It was incredibly difficult.

I prayed to God,

โ€œGod, is this the end of rescuing North Korean escapees? Is this the end of our opportunity to share the Gospel with them?โ€

We cried before God in prayer, and we even considered giving up the ministry.

But at that very moment, in 2023, Beyond Utopiaย was completed.

The film received the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival and became known worldwide.

Through this, God raised up people from many different countries who began praying for and supporting the people of North Korea.

We are deeply grateful to God, who provided help even greater than the obstacles we faced, and we are also deeply thankful to all our supporters around the world.

Because of that support, since COVID, we have been able to rescue an additional 64 North Korean escapees, bringing the total number of people rescued to 1,072.

By the grace of God, Caleb Mission has come this far through your prayers and through our continued relationship with all of you.

Once again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

When we rescue North Korean escapees, our ministry does not end with simply saving their physical lives.

At our Southeast Asia center, they study the Bible for approximately three months. We share the Gospel with them and disciple them so that they can become followers of Jesus Christ.

We also help them as they begin their new lives and settle in South Korea. We are committed to discipling and raising them up as people who will help prepare for the reunification of Korea through the Gospel.

We are seeking 7,000 prayer warriorsย who will stand with us in prayer and support this ministry with $12 each month.

If you stand with us, we will be able to rescue more North Korean escapees, disciple them in the Gospel, help them settle in South Korea, and raise them up as workers for the Gospel and for the future reunification of Korea.

For this work, we sincerely ask for your active prayers and partnership.

Just as God has faithfully led us and accomplished so much through this ministry over the past seven years, we pray that the next seven years will also be completely offered to God.

We earnestly pray that these next seven years will become a season in which we move closer toward the Gospel-centered reunification of the Korean Peninsula.

Please pray with us, work with us, and partner with us in this mission. Thank you.

In Christโ€™s love,Pastor Seungeun Kim
