Caleb Mission Newsletter 💌 The First Week of September

Hallelujah! I pray that the God of peace will be with each of you. The intense summer heat is beginning to pass, and September is now upon us. It is truly a season of harvest—a time when many things begin to bear fruit. Above all, we are especially thankful for the spiritual fruit God continues to bring through Caleb Mission.

We are deeply grateful to see North Korean escapees being rescued, trained, and equipped to serve as pastors and ministry leaders, as well as settling into their new lives and becoming meaningful members of society.

All of this has been possible only because of the grace of our Ebenezer God—the Lord who has faithfully helped and led Caleb Mission this far. It has also been made possible through the prayers, intercession, dedication, and partnership of so many of you.

As we enter this season of harvest, I ask you to continue standing with us through the final months of this year so that, by God’s grace, we may see even greater fruit in our ministry to North Korean escapees.

One of our greatest challenges continues to be the rescue work itself. The situation in China is becoming increasingly difficult. Chinese authorities are intensifying their efforts to find and arrest North Korean escapees, while the escapees themselves are hiding more carefully to avoid being discovered. Because of this, finding and rescuing them has become much more difficult than it was in the past.

Yet even in these circumstances, God continues to open doors for rescues. And when we see those who have been rescued come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior and begin living by faith, we are reminded that this is one of the greatest blessings of all.

During our recent 20th anniversary celebration, we also had the opportunity to worship together with North Korean pastors and ministry leaders. Through that time of unity and worship, we were able to see an even greater vision from God.

We are thankful that God continues to hold North Korea in His heart and is using those who have not bowed their knees, even under oppression. We believe this, too, is the fruit of the prayers and intercession we have offered together.

Here at our North Korean Refugee Center in Dogo, we are also entering the fall harvest season. The sweet potatoes, peppers, and other crops that were planted earlier in the year are now producing their harvest. At the same time, we are already planting napa cabbage to prepare kimchi for the winter.

The cabbage we plant today will not be ready to harvest for at least 70 days. Yet we plant it now because we can already picture and hope for the harvest that will come 70 days from now.

I believe God’s work is much the same. We faithfully plant and begin the work today while looking ahead to the Kingdom of God and trusting Him for the harvest in His time. My prayer is that one day each of us will stand before the Lord and hear Him say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Even now, new rescue efforts are beginning. I sincerely ask you to continue interceding for these North Korean escapees and for every rescue that is underway.

Please also pray that God will provide everything needed for this ministry—including the financial resources and every other need—and that He will continue to guide and lead us in every step. Thank you again for standing with us in prayer and partnership.

Indebted to love,Pastor Seungeun Kim
