Caleb Mission Newsletter ๐ The Fourth Week of September
Hallelujah! I pray that the God of peace will be with each of you. Fall is now fully upon us. It is a season of harvest, and Chuseok, Koreaโs traditional harvest holiday, is just around the corner.
This year, I returned to Gunsan, where I once filmed the documentary The Border of Heaven โ Smuggling, to prepare food and spend Chuseok with North Korean escapees. I spent time with several North Korean women whom Caleb Mission rescued and share the gospel with, and who recently resettled in South Korea. I bought them fish and squid and took them to see the ocean. Seeing their joy brought me great happiness. It felt almost like spending time with my own daughters.

Iโm thankful to God for giving me this heart for North Korean escapees. Although I have spent many years helping rescue and care for them, my heart still aches whenever the holidays come. Their families remain in North Korea. Some have told me that even when they are eating good food here, it can feel like they are โchewing sandโ because of how deeply they miss their loved ones. Hearing this is always painful.
I believe reunification cannot be accomplished by human strength alone. God must make a way. This is why we continue praying for reunification through the gospelโfor the idols of North Korea to fall and for the Kingdom of Jesus Christ to come to that land.
As you spend Chuseok with your families and loved ones, please remember North Korean escapees who still have family members in the North.
Please also remember the North Korean escapees at our center in Southeast Asia, where they hear the gospel and grow as disciples of Jesus. They are safe after leaving China, but they are still waiting in a third country before they can enter South Korea, spending the holiday far from anything familiar. The missionaries caring for them also face loneliness and many challenges, yet they continue faithfully serving these escapees.
All of this requires sacrifice and service for the sake of Godโs Kingdom and the gospel. Please pray for every missionary and ministry worker serving alongside us.
Caleb Mission has many areas of ministry, but this year we are especially focused on three things: rescuing North Korean escapees, providing gospel-centered discipleship and education, and supporting their resettlement. We deeply need your prayers as we continue pursuing these three goals.
Above all, please pray for the North Korean escapees who may feel especially lonely during this holiday season. My prayer is that Caleb Mission can help wipe away even a few of their tears and bring them comfort and hope through the love of Jesus Christ.
Thank you to everyone who has prayed, served, and partnered with us throughout the years. As we enter this season of harvest, I pray that Caleb Mission will continue to bear good fruit, and that God will also bring abundant grace and fruit into your lives, families, and ministries.
